Travel destinations for creative kids

7 Travel Destinations to Spark your Child's Imagination

Creativity is not only about talent, but a way of thinking and expressing ourselves. Kids are born innovators with vivid imaginations and unique manner of self expressions. Their curiosity motivates them to be imaginative and inventive. But this capacity can be restrained, if kids have no space to behave imaginatively and to release their creative energy. They need varied opportunities and materials to give expression to their creativity. Creativity emerging from their personal feelings and experiences, reflects and nurtures their emotional health too.

The ability to be creative, to create something from personal feelings and experiencesSo instead of saying, 7 best places to visit for creative kids, I would re- phrase it as "7 best places to foster a sense of creativity in children". Encouraging children to try out new things , ideas and continuously pushing the envelope is a crucial factor in their intellectual, physical and emotional growth. So here are my top 7 places to visit:

Opened way back in 1996, it is the biggest and one of the oldest Legoland parks in the world and about 5 times bigger than the original one in Denmark. Windsor has a few dramatic attractions worth mentioning like the Atlantis,The Dragon and the full sized pirate ship. Touch pools and aquariums at the end of the ride are a great piece of educational fun. Not to forget the huge Display of Star Wars Models coupled with dramatic sound and light effects. This display is awesome for a Star Wars fan regardless of age.

This is just what you need if you go crazy watching re -runs of Jurassic Park. This is your opportunity to feel like you are a part of it.A 364-acre amusement park in Mason ,Ohio featuring over 80 rides and winner of a prestigious award for having the “Best Kids Area” in the world consecutively for 12 years is something to watch out for.It has about 60 life sized dinosaurs ,56 of which are state -of -the art animatronic dinosaurs and is the worlds largest animatronic dinosaur park. You can also experience life as a palaeontologist at the dig sites besides some interactive stations that allow you to see how the dinosaurs moved. And if your little one is a dinosaur fan ,you cant miss it for the world.

Airplanes and rockets, astronauts and aliens is all that you need to say to get their little minds whizzing. Built in two locations, the National Air and Space museum is located in Washington DC and the Udvar -Hazy Centre. The Centre is basically a big hanger near the Dulles Airport filled with space crafts like the Discovery, the Concorde etc.The DC centre is the treasure of original historic crafts like the 1903 Wright Flyer, Chuck Yeager’s Bell X-1, John Glenn’s Friendship 7 spacecraft, and the Apollo 11 command module .Besides this it has the “HOW THINGS FLY”exhibit which allows the kids to touch and sit in an airplane, push buttons and find out how these massive vehicles get into the sky. It is wildly popular and preserves our great history and our fascination with Flight and outer Space.

This is a museum worth a visit if you want to fuel the imagination of your kids and really push them to think out of the box. This visit will start their lifelong journey of curiosity, discovery and action to create a better future for the planet. The interactive sections like the Wonderlab with thought provoking marvels and the impact of science on our everyday lives will engage the kids like nothing else. The experiences are truly remarkable and nothing like anything that you have seen before. Besides this there are theatres and other events and exhibitions organised to enrich the experience.

Located at Sentosa Island in Singapore this is a beautiful conservatory and museum housing more than 1500 butterfly varieties and 3000 insects. Its a must see for kids who love nature .A multi-sensory ,interactive experience that is guaranteed to leave you spell bound with its original scents ,sights and sounds replicated. It helps you discover nature in the most enchanting way.

A defining symbol of Egypt and the last of the Seven wonders of the world ,the great pyramid of Giza is located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo.Built over a twenty year period during the reign of Khufu, this was the tallest structure built by human hands in the world until the Eiffel tower was completed. This is a perfect example of good engineering, skill and perseverance considering that there was no use of machines. The scale and the history is truly remarkable and not to be missed.

Crisp air in your lungs and unbridled beauty dancing overhead, the northern lights are truly a sight to behold. Experience an incredible natural phenomenon of Northern Lights: natures fireworks on display. Auroral displays appear in many colours although pale green and pink are the most common. Shades of red, yellow, green, blue, and violet have been reported. The lights appear in many forms from patches or scattered clouds of light to streamers, arcs, rippling curtains or shooting rays that light up the sky
The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth's atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun's atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. They are known as 'Aurora borealis' in the north and 'Aurora australis' in the south.
Its most impressive in Iceland when its thermal hot-springs, boiling mud pools and geysers perform in startling juxtaposition to the frozen landscape that surrounds them.

Albert Einsten once rightly said "Creativity is Intelligence having fun". As parents, we always want our kids to be better than what they really want to be. So, if we encourage them to find their own passion, we give them opportunities to do many things. So, lets take our kids to these places and foster a sense of creativity in them.
