A Mark of Simplicity

The mountains towered high as if they were touching the clouds in the sky. The unexpected bulges and the plain white boulders glistened by the hot sun simply added to the overall majesty and appearance inviting a deep attention. The twin skyscrapers at a nearby distance despite being similarly tall and well-proportioned seemed to hardly make an impact. Indeed, it is a bit unfair to draw a parallel between these non-comparable, strikingly contrast in purity and deed. Barring the huge sprawling lawns in front and the swimming pool behind, would these man-made edifices be able to stand on its own?

Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation”. Oscar Wilde
To be simple, we need to look around and observe everything about ostentation. When we are unable to understand the “why” behind this artifice, how do we expect to know “what simplicity is”!!  At large, every person we meet, is in a world of his own, desiring to prove himself better than the rest. To accomplish this endeavor, most of us portray ourselves as what we are not, whether in terms of costume, behavior or accent. If we look at this entire matter a little intensely, we see that even among our immediate family or our circle of relatives and friends, everyone is on this unending trip, not ever thinking as to when to stop. Possibly, it would be a question whether this deserves a thought at all and we could always defend that there is nothing incorrect about it. The great author Oscar Wilde once rightly remarked, “Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation”.

Therefore, unless we understand why we borrow from others, we will continue to be complex in thought, Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation”. Oscar Wildeword, and action. It would not be appropriate enough to stay not bothered by people or situations around. At the same time, it is also important to be sensitive, discrete and exercise a choice of what we need to be. If we are able to draw that focus within ourselves, we would not be ever daunted by others. We would get smart enough to get influenced, but intelligent enough to internalize and make it to our own instead of being swayed or getting carried away. It is true that people also observe us and we need to make a decent impression. Wonder, if we think what others will think about us, then what would they actually think? Are we not wasting our precious time in this? Only when we drop off this burden about  people’s perception about us, and be ourselves, we would be able to be what we are.

The moment we realize we are alone and nothing more, we experience a strange but beautiful blaze in our heart. We are then able to draw all the energy within us and push ourselves to achieve anything that we had set to do. We also recognize that we are in a position to do more tasks than ever before and leave a credible mark in this world. People naturally will get drawn to us and to our work, to learn what it is to be simple about. Despite people around, we are left on our own. In that indivisible state, there is happiness.

Stay simple and happy.

It is rightly said that simplicity is the way of GOOD life. BUt societal pressures are inevitable and then we are bound to behave the way we should according to the so called SOCIETY

We often think too much about what others think and agree with you that it\'s important not to think too much and let it go.

This is such a beautiful post... I agree! Simplicity is the best way to live the life! Trying to look at other\'s lives and trying to mimic them would only complicate things... Best way is to enjoy every simple and regular thing and just live...

Amazing thoughts, indeed we need to stop thinking about others perceptions and start being just \"self\". Our actions will change as we work on it.

Everyone has thoughts and feelings that are guarded from the world and its ok as long as one stays true to himself. Catering to others is taxing.

Your article reminds me of this powerful video I recently came across by veggieveganveda. Think not what others think about you and be happy in their eyes, but truly be what you are and then you will find true happiness.

It is so true. People always think what others would think about them and so behave accordingly. It is necessary to be yourself to give out the best to the world.
