Few must watch animal movies for Kids

Must Watch Animal Movies For Kids!

What are your favourite animal movies for kids? You see I loved reading and watching stories as a kid. And I remember feeling lost when my fav. movie or series got over. I missed those characters and being a part of their everyday. I felt their sorrow, pain and victory. My twins are no different. They love a good story and I am always looking for the best of the best for them. So here are my top 5 must watch Animal movies for kids and I would love to know about yours too. Why animal movies? Because don't the kids love animals like crazy.

A killer whale named Keiko

But here is some Animal and Movie Trivia first:

1) Jonathan Burt's book Animals in Film actually credits advancing photographic technology in cinemas to capturing of animal mobility.

2) A killer whale named Keiko was the star of Free Willy. And after the movies success, the Free Willy-Keiko Foundation was formed to rehabilitate Keiko and eventually they helped release him back into he wild. Of course there are some who think it was a mistake

3) The collie that starred as Lassie in Lassie Come Home featured in 5 more movies - Son of Lassie , Courage of Lassie, Challenge to Lassie, Hills of Home, The Sun Comes Up & The Painted Hills.

And here are my absolutely top 5 best favourite animal-movies for kids:

1) Finding Nemo: Academy Award Winner for Best Animated Feature, Finding Nemo makes for a great weekend watch. A clown-fish is forced to face his fears and everything else that an ocean can throw upon you, to find his son, Nemo. On the other hand Nemo faces his sets of challenges till he is reunited with his father. The characters are beautifully sketched and the story will inspire you to set out on a mission.

Did you Know: Most of the fish represented in Nemo are actual saltwater fish- Nemo and Marlin are clownfish, Dory is a Regal Blue Tang, Bloat is a Puffer Fish and so on. In fact clownfish and blue tang were  most preferred pets after the movies.

Best Dialogue: Dory: "When life gets you down do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming.."

2) The Lion King: Golden Globe Award Winner for Best Motion Picture- Musical or Comedy, The Lion king is for repeat viewing. Simba the lion club looses his father (The king of the pride) and is tricked into leaving his kingdom. He lives with the burden of his father’s death on his shoulders and returns years later to avenge both; his father’s death and the downfall of his pride. But first Simba must get his own tribe to trust him. The Lion King is a great musical film with a gripping story and mesmerising animation.

Did you know: Disney animators studied animal behaviour in Africa for this movie. Also the names of most of the characters are based on Swahili words: Simba is Lion, Nala is Gift, Sarabi is a mirage, Rafiki means a friend and Shenzi means uncivilised.

- 'The Lion King is loosely inspired by an African  mythology story. The one in which the king is killed and the prince is banished for the empire. He later returns to fight the evil sorcerer King and wins his kingdom and people back.

Best Dialogue: Rafiki: "Oh yes, the past can hurt. But, you can either run from it or, learn from it."

3) Lassie (1994): When a family moves into a countryside, their son finds a friend in a homeless dog called Lassie. Together they grow and fight off a vicious neighbour and his sons. Through one of such episodes Lassies falls over a waterfall while saving the little boy Matt. Will this be the end of a rich and remarkable friendship? Watch it today to know.

Did you know: Lassie the dog was actually a male dog named Pal. He was initially rejected to play the Ain role and was only to be used for the stunts. But he impressed the crew enough to be hired and then went on to do atlas 5 more movies.

4) Free Willy: This movie enjoys cult-following so much so that the theme of the film was sung by Michael Jackson. Free Willy is the story of an unusual friendship between Willy a whaler and Jessy, an abandoned boy. Will Jessy be able to save Willy and reunite it with its family? Will he be able to fight off the amusement park owner, complete the rescue trip on a trailer through off roads? This when the water in Willy’s tank is fast running out. Well find that out this weekend on your chosen Movie portal, but make sure you have your tissue papers ready.

Did you know: Will You Be There, was produced and performed by the Michael Jackson and even won the MTV Movie Award for the Best Song in a Movie.

Best Dialogue: Jesse: "If one of your friends was in trouble, wouldn't you try to help him?"

5) Babe: It won Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film. More than that this inspiring tale of a pig wanting to be a sheep-dog won everyone’s heart. The story challenges all norms and makes you believe that anything is possible. Watch it to for the talent of a pig and for the believer of his talent- his master.

Did you know: It took ten years to make Babe. Many young fans of the movie actually turned vegetarian after watching this adorable movie and they came to be known as 'Babe Vegetarians'.

Best Dialogue: Narrator: "This is a tale about an unprejudiced heart, and how it changed our valley forever. There was a time not so long ago when pigs were afforded no respect, except by other pigs; they lived their whole lives in a cruel and sunless world. In those days pigs believed that the sooner they grew large and fat, the sooner they'd be taken into Pig Paradise, a place so wonderful that no pig had ever thought to come back."

We hope you will love watching these pictures just as much as us. If you do, don’t forget to pass our recommendation to more parents like yourself. And here are some kid books and movies we highly recommend:
