Movie Review – Smurfs: The Lost Village
Director: Kelly Asbury
Production company: Sony Pictures Animation
Music director: Christopher Lennertz
KetchupMoms Rating: 4
Is it scary? No it is not. Which is why it is kid appropriate. Unlike say the The good dinosaur this one is breezy and more child-friendly. My twins love to recreate the magic of this movie on the official Smurfs Website, where they get to read the Smurfs Comics, learn how to draw the Smurfs, play interactive games and more. The villain here is a tad bit funny and clumsy too. Now isn't that fun?
Is it fun? Oh yes, this Sony Pictures Animation is a magical world brought alive. There are Glow bunnies, dangerous Venus-fly traps, Dragonfly tribe that is used as planes and even emit fire. Most of all, there are the fun Smurfs and the evil wizard with his smart cat to keep the kids glued to their seats. The animation is fun, the picture is racy and visually it is a wild delight.
Is it fun for parents too? Yes!! Smurfs: The Lost Village is engaging. The music score is fun too. And you don’t have to deal with petrified or crying kids, which some over-emotional movies can create. This is a particular song that both my daughter and me love to sing:
Plot: The story is about a gutsy artificial Smurf girl ( created by the evil wizard to get into the smurfs world and their secrets, but she has been spelled into goodness by the good leader Papa Smurf) and her boy gang- Hefty, Brainy and Clumsy.
It’s about them trying to save an entire Smurfs’ Village from falling prey to the evil wizard’s greediness and evil ambitions. Their journey takes them through adventurous river, forbidden forest, caterpillar massages too. But more importantly it is a friendly film about friendship, love and family.
Trivia– Smurfs: The Lost Village, is based on The Smurfs comic book series created by the Belgian comics artist Peyo.
Best enjoyed with popcorns and chocolate milk.
