The Impermanence of Life and Permanence of What We Do With it

Sharing some thoughts that crossed my mind and I am sure it has crossed your minds too.........

I got up in the middle of the night, out of sheer bad habit, I reached for my phone. The internet and the various WhatsApp groups were breaking with the shocking news of Sridevi's sudden death. She died in Dubai at (what I now feel) a young age of 54, due to a cardiac attack.

My instant reaction was “oh! how could she?” She is younger than so many other veteran actors still around in Bollywood. And then realization dawned that age is a silly prerequisite to die. Yet, in our subconscious mind we always think the older will die first.

My second thought was - was her husband, Boney Kapoor, and her two daughters- Janhavi and Khushi around her? Did she collapse in their arms or was she alone in a hotel room? And, I thought God please let the news tell me that they were all around her.

Suddenly, I felt what was I thinking ? I was thinking, whenever I die, I would want to be surrounded by those who mean the most to me!!  I want to see them for one last time before I shut my eyes forever!! That is when I read, her elder daughter was not with her.

But the fact is life does not follow perfect patterns. No one can write a perfect death script. It will happen when it must happen and the way it must happen. I looked at her photograph in her death news. She looked, fit and fabulous. But wait, was I just equating a slim figure to a healthy body? May be that equation is not true always.

My third thought was about all the amazing work that she has done in her life. I thought of her in Lamhe, in Chandni, in Chaalbaaz , in Mr India and more recently in English Vinglish and Mom. And I thought Sridevi will continue to live in our hearts and on the silver screen.

I mused to myself that everyone's time is limited. Mine, yours, his or her's. So why not live and enjoy each moment and strive till our last breath. Our deeds and our work may be our only ticket to live in someone's hearts forever.

I so agree with your thoughts, all we should do is just follow one saying and that is, Seize the day!

These days the most low-cost thing is Life. We don\'t seem to value it. Media and news people going berserk about Sridevi\'s death is a great example of it.

This is so thoughtful... A slim and Beautiful body doesn\'t mean a healthy body.. and cardiac arrest? That can happen to anyone... This was shocking also because we don\'t expect the ones in Bollywood, who go for regular health checkups, to perish untimely... Life is so uncertain... She will be missed
